Palliative Care Unit

Palliative care is provided to patients with cancer as well as those living with other life-threatening conditions, including advanced congestive heart failure, emphysema, renal failure, and all forms of dementia.

Despite advances in treatment and the benefits of early diagnosis, not all cancers are curable. Many patients experience chronic, progressive illness associated with complex physical, emotional, social, and spiritual challenges at every stage of the disease.

Palliative care addresses these challenges from the time of diagnosis and evolves alongside the patient’s condition. As curative options become limited, the focus shifts toward maximizing quality of life, relieving suffering, and supporting patients and their families throughout the course of illness and beyond.

Since 2015, Ain Wazein Medical Village has operated an 8-bed Palliative Care Unit. The unit has been designated as a national pilot center by the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health and the World Health Organization.

The unit delivers comprehensive, patient-centered care and supports an average of 360 patients annually, significantly improving quality of life and reducing suffering.
