Admission

Only physicians with admitting privileges are allowed to hospitalize a patient at AWMV
The admission process to the hospital is executed via the admission division (2 offices):

  • The main admission office:

Located in the ground floor (main entrance) for cold cases. It admits patients during official working hours (8:30-17:00) the whole week except Sundays and official holidays and Saturday till 13:00 PM.

  • ER admission office:

Located in the emergency entrance
For emergency cases, it admits patients 24/7.
Patient′s admission submits to his/her treating physician’s approval. The physician will complete                    required documents (admission request, required medical reports…) after getting patient′s approval              for admission and treatment or any patient representative if he/she is minor or unconscious.
Signed the related form (admission form) by patient or patient’s relatives and reviewing its content to confirm the guarantor and to find out what he/she may be required of amount of money that are not covered by guarantors


Pre- admission phase

  • Cold cases
  • The required documents that should be provided by the patient before admission in order to get approval from the third party payers are:
    • Patient’s identity card
    • Patient’s insurance card
    • Detailed medical report from treating physician
    • Guarantor′s specific forms (available in Admission Office)
    • Signature of documents by the concerned controlling physician to be sent to patient′s main insurance center
    • Sending documents to guarantor or insurance company to get the approval before admission.
    • If the patient has a difference from the guarantor and he/she is unable to pay, he/she can communicate with the social worker to provide him/her with the possible assistance.

 

  • Additional Preparations:
    • In case of surgery, and when setting the date for the operation, we must coordinate with the outpatient clinics and inquire about the date of Pre-Op in order to settle provision of required implants and/or special supplies and to get medical financial and administrative clearance day of Pre-Op.
    • Paying the approximate amount depending on the medical act and the insurance party

 

  • Emergency cases
    • All emergency cases are admitted to the hospital through ER admission office.
    • ER admission office employee informs the patient to consult the main admission office to continue required procedures mentioned previously.

       

Admission Process

    When the patient arrives to the admission office, all the personal information will be registered in the system and all the required documents are received from the patient, then the patient will be oriented to concerned department where he/she will be admitted by responsible nurse.

  • Billing Discharge (Administrative audit and Medical audit)
       

    • Hospital discharge decision depends on the treating physician decision. The physician will complete medical file, and all required reports (discharge instructions, medical prescription, others …)
    •  

    • After completion of all administrative procedures concerning patient′s medical file, the clerk will send the file via network (medical file is computerized) to billing department where the invoice is calculated and audited, which requires accuracy and time to be completed and then to cashiers for invoice payment.
    •  

    • The Nurse will then inform the patient or his companions to pass by the cashiers to pay the bill
    •  

    • After the completion of all financial process, the patient will be given an exit card that will be submitted to the concerned nursing unit
    •  

    • The Head Nurse or responsible nurse will inform the patient about all medical and other prescriptions, the dietitian will give him the appropriate diet – when needed
    •  

    • The Head Nurse will receive back from the patient the “Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire” given to him upon admission
    •  

    • Each patient has the right to refuse health care proposed and leave the hospital against medical advice after being informed about the consequences of this act by the treating physician
    •  

    • The patient or any of his relatives should sign a special consent form confirming that he is leaving the hospital under his own responsibility

Patients Rights

  • Every patient has the right to obtain the highest possible level of health care without delay, and in all cases without discrimination in religion, race or gender, and respect for his dignity and personal, religious and cultural beliefs and freedom to exercise it is taken into consideration. Every patient or a member of his family appointed by him or his legal representative has the right to obtain the information clearly necessary for his health condition.
  • Every patient has the right to choose his or her attending physician Every patient or a member of his family appointed by him or his legal representative has the right to obtain a copy of the medical files and records related to his health condition (laboratory examinations, X-ray reports) and to obtain detailed and accurate medical reports through his attending physician and for one time for a single hospitalization
  • Every patient has the right to refuse health care and leave the hospital within the limits of the law and on his own responsibility, after signing a special pledge and after explaining to him the consequences of this refusal
  • Every patient has the right to inform him and give him advice about the intention of a person or institution to conduct research that may affect his health care and has the right to agree to or refuse to participate in this research
  • Every patient has the right to review the hospital administration with everything related to his stay in it
  • Every patient has the right to file a complaint with the competent authorities regarding the health care he received

    Responsibilities:

    Each patient has:

    • To protect his health and to refrain from any activity that might be
      harmful to his health (smoking, alcohol)
    •  To follow the medical and nursing instructions for the benefit of his
      health and to comply with the health care requirements approved upon
    •  Each patient, his family, his companions and visitors must complywith the following recommendations:
      • Respecting of the medical, nursing and administrative team and complying with hospital rules and regulations
      • keeping the places they are in clean
      • Refraining from smoking inside the premises of the Establishment
      • Refraining from noise when visiting a patient
      • Visiting patient in small numbers and as per scheduled visiting hours
      • Not bringing children under the age of twelve to the hospital for their own safety
      • Refraining from bringing food and beverages to the patient rooms and corridors
