The Anesthesiology Department aims to perform all types of anesthesia in a safe manner and optimal conditions. Patients in this department are evaluated pre and post any surgical procedure. Anesthesiologists participate in the pain management program, quality improvement plans, in addition to scientific and academic activities. The department is equipped with modern equipment to meet the progress of work in the hospital and especially including open heart surgery (tables, microscopes, surgical equipment…) in addition to a modern Recovery Room.
After the surgery, the patient is transferred to the recovery room to safely regain consciousness from anesthesia and receive appropriate post-operative care (monitoring vital signs, pulse, blood pressure, temperature, blood oxygen levels, etc…). In the recovery room, our staff work closely with patients to ease their anxiety and ensure their physical and emotional comfort.
Most major operations are performed under this type of anesthesia, where the patient becomes completely unconscious and unaware of the surgical procedure. AWMV anesthesiologists work with each patient individually, to identify the best and most suitable combination of medications, taking into consideration the medical condition of each patient, the previous medications, allergies, and the type of surgery.
This technique aims to block the sensation of the body area which requires surgical intervention to prevent patient from feeling pain. The anesthesiologist injects local anesthesia (numbing medication) near the cluster of nerves that provides sensation to that area.
This procedure blocks the pain in a particular region of the body. Epidurals block the nerve impulses from the lower spinal segments which results in decreased sensation in the lower half of the body.

Ain Wazein Medical Village has adopted an emergency plan against the COVID-19 pandemic, especially since it was among the first Lebanese hospitals that have launched a mechanism of rapid response to deal with the pandemic as soon as the first cases were detected. Recently AWMV won a prestigious award, it was selected by the Arab Hospitals Federation as one of only a few distinguished hospitals in the Arab World. It was awarded Golden Initiative Certificate in recognition of overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic.
AWMV was a pioneer health facility in its catchment area establishing communicable disease evaluation and management units or a specific center for COVID-19. Functional since August 10th, 2020, this center is considered the second in Lebanon in the number of beds dedicated for patients with COVID-19.

About us:
The Cytogenetics Laboratory at AWH is a leader in the field of cytogenetics. Our laboratory ensures that accurate, reliable results are available in a timely manner.
Chromosome disorders form a major category of genetic disease.
In a clinical setting, chromosome abnormalities account for a large proportion of patients with congenital malformations, intellectual disability, and infertility or recurrent pregnancy loss.
The Cytogenetics Laboratory provides comprehensive testing services.
We offer: on Peripheral blood, bone marrow, lymphomas and solid tumors.
Prenatal diagnosis on Amniotic fluid(One of the few laboratories in Lebanon that performs test for fetus (prenatal) as chromosomal abnormalities are detected in about 1 in 200 newborns and constitute a major cause of mental retardation and congenital malformations.
In addition to the adoption of the new technique: Rapid aneuploidy diagnosis Interphase fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH).
Our Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory uses Quantitative real-time PCR that is a valuable technology used for diagnostics of infectious diseases, and for the detection of bacterial, fungal and viral pathogens.
Real Time PCR is useful in rapid detection of uncultivable or fastidious microorganisms. Additionally, sequence analysis of amplified microbial /viral DNA allows for identification and better characterization of the pathogen. Subspecies variation, identified by various techniques, has been shown to be important in the prognosis of certain diseases. Other important advances include the determination of viral load and the direct detection of genes or gene mutations responsible for drug resistance.
We apply this method for detection and follow up during treatment for Hepatitis B (HBV), Hepatitis C (HCV).
Detection of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) and Tuberculosis (TB).
