Educational Activities

The educational program includes the following:

Grand Rounds Lectures

Ain Wazein Medical Village typically holds Grand Rounds lectures on Thursdays from 12:00 to 1:00 pm in the AWMV Conference Room, Main Building – Ground Floor.

Help doctors and other healthcare professionals keep up to date in important evolving areas which may be outside of their core practice.

  • Cite new bench science findings that are relevant to patient care.
  • Support dissemination of best practices.
  • Provide physicians and trainees with up-to-date knowledge about timely issues in medicine.

The intended audience for Grand Rounds includes attending physicians, fellows, residents, medical students, nurses, and allied health professionals.

 



Continuing Medical Education Accreditation and Credit Designation

Ain Wazein Medical Village Grand Round Lectures are accredited by the Lebanese Order of Physicians for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education credits for physicians.

1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ per session is designated to this live activity.

Journal Clubs

The Journal Clubs, hosted by the AWMV medical departments, are the key educational meetings for physicians, consultants, medical residents and students. Presentations revolve around clinical cases, recently published articles and are followed by lively, educational discussion.

Chairman’s Rounds

Involve residents in case presentation and analysis; provide training to residents in leading case-based presentations; attended by all internal medicine physicians.

Board Review

Help residents prepare for exams and assessments with an array of trusted resources in a variety of learning styles such as Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment Program (MKSAP) that includes thorough syllabus content and the best questions in medicine for assessing knowledge in all areas of internal medicine.

Medical Library

AWMV offers a medical library facility during regular working hours which provides access to many up-to-date journals, publications, and databases such as UpToDate, MKSAP, and many others.

Training Program

Ain Wazein Medical Village aims to promote education in various aspects of health, including medical, nursing, physical therapy, dietary, laboratory medicine, and pharmacy. This is achieved in collaboration with various medical and paramedical schools. Our program provides comprehensive, broad-based training and is dedicated to developing confident, knowledgeable, professional, and caring healthcare providers who will be well-prepared to address the wide range of problems encountered in clinical practice.

Ain Wazein Medical Village offers training for medical residents of the Lebanese University in different specialties including:

  • Internal medicine
  • Emergency medicine
  • General surgery
  • Orthopedic surgery
  • Geriatrics

Ain Wazein Medical Village offers training to medical students and residents in the form of externships. For elective training, please fill the Application Form and email the Chief of Staff Office at Siham.Safa@awmedicalvillage.org





Medical Schools

AWMV has developed affiliations with various universities and medical schools and offered training in various formulas:

  • Family Medicine Fellowship program with USJ.
  • Geriatrics Training Program with AUB:
    • Requirement for all Internal Medicine Residents since 2005
    • Med IV students training in long-term care
    • Minimum of 1 Resident and 2 Interns (2 times /week)
    • Combination between rotations at AUB & AWMV
    • Offered exposure to long-term care and outpatient clinics
    • Activity was suspended in 2019 during COVID-19 pandemic
  • Training relationship with the Faculty of Medicine – Lebanese University:
    • Mandatory Rotation for all Internal Medicine Residents
    • Team of 2 residents per month
    • Exposure to acute care and long-term care
  • Fellowship Program with Lebanese University:
    • Cardiology
    • Infectious disease
    • Gastroenterology
    • Orthopedic Surgery
    • Pulmonary and Critical Care
    • Geriatric Fellowship Program:
      • The only Geriatrics Fellowship Program in Lebanon
      • Training in acute care, long-term care, consultation services & palliative care
      • 4 graduates since 2013
      • Past research topics:
        • Survival Rates in Older Adults Compared to Their Younger Counterparts Following Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (Advances in Aging Research, 2017)
        • Quality of care of patients with hip fracture
        • Screening tools for palliative care
        • Data for hip fracture was used by students in Masters of Public Health
  • Masters Program in Gerontology – Lebanese University, Faculty of Public Health, Branch VI:
    • Ain Wazein Medical Village offers training for BS Nursing students aiming to obtain a master degree in Gerontology through the Lebanese University, Faculty of Public Health, Branch VI.
    • Total of 82 graduates since 2016
